Paul S. Yamauchi (M.D., Ph.D.) is a dermatologist in private practice and medical director at both the Dermatology Institute & Skin Care Center and Clinical Science Institute in Santa Monica, California. He has admitting privileges and is on staff at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica and the UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Yamauchi is a clinical assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Associate Professor at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, CA. He specializes in medical and complex dermatology, dermatologic surgery, aesthetic dermatology, and clinical research. Dr. Yamauchi earned his BS in biochemistry at the University of California at Los Angeles, his PhD in biologic chemistry at the University of California at Santa Barbara, and his MD at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. He completed his residency in dermatology at UCLA School of Medicine and a cosmetic surgery fellowship affiliated with UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Yamauchi is a fellow with the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Dermatology Surgery, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Pacific Dermatology Association and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Dermatologic Society. He serves on the editorial board of various journals and on task force committees for the American Academy of Dermatology. He is the author or co-author of more than 70 publications, including several books. Dr. Yamauchi conducts numerous clinical research trials at the Clinical Science Institute in Santa Monica. He serves as a principle investigator in several studies including new therapies for psoriasis, skin cancer, rejuvenation, rosacea, eczema and acne. Dr. Yamauchi has been a consultant for the development of new innovative therapies in dermatology. Dr. Yamauchi is recognized as a key opinion leader in psoriasis and atopic dermatitis and is on the Medical Board for the National Psoriasis Foundation and the Scientific Advisory Council for the National Eczema Association. He has extensive experience using the new biologics in the treatment of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, and has been invited as a speaker at international, national, regional, and local venues to talk about new advances in the treatment of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. In addition, he is strong advocate in establishing patient support groups for psoriasis. Dr. Yamauchi has published extensively in new advances in the treatment of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Dr. Yamauchi has also spoken on other dermatologic conditions at national and local meetings and has published many peer-reviewed articles including acne, eczema, skin manifestations associated with rheumotologic conditions, and hyperhidrosis. He has written several articles on the use of botulinum toxins and fillers for rejuvenation and other indications as well as advances in laser treatment. Dr. Yamauchi has been the recipient of many top awards including the Castle Connolly’s listing of American’s Top Doctors, the Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Super Doctors in Southern California, the Expert Network, among many other awards.
