La storia dei trials clinici nell’AIEOP è una storia relativamente recente e nasce da una aggregazione spontanea di alcuni pediatri che decidevano di dare una base scientifica con una filosofia comune per trattare al meglio i pazienti pediatrici oncologici. Nei primi anni i trattamenti si sono basati sulla applicazione di protocolli francesi, inglesi o statunitensi con l’unico obbiettivo di migliorare la sopravvivenza dei bambini. Con le prime guarigioni sono arrivate le prime domande e con queste i trias clinici, in cui si è usata la randomizzazione per poter rispondere a quesiti clinici.
